Theory Of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) receives a hardwired brake signal from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module indicating that the Brake Pedal is applied. When this signal is received, the BCM provides a voltage output through the Brake Lamp Switch Output circuit to the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) in order to illuminate the CHMSL bulbs.
