Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
3. Press and release the Mirror Select switch to select the Driver Outside Rearview Mirror.
4. Turn the hazard lamps on.
5. Turn on the park lamps (if equipped with auto dimming mirrors).
6. Turn the rear defogger on, if equipped with heated mirror.
7. Operate the Mirror Adjust switch in all directions several times while monitoring the scan tool for DTCs.
  NOTE:
  After adjusting the mirror in one direction wait at least two seconds before adjusting the mirror in the opposite direction, as this will allow time for an active fault to set if present.
  
  Is the DTC active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. For vehicle's equipped with folding outside rearview mirrors, repeat test with mirror folded. If no problems are found, use the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide and inspect the wiring and connectors.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE MIRROR CONNECTIONS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Driver Door Module C2 connector.
3. Inspect the wiring harness, connectors and the Drivers Door Module.
  Were there any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair as necessary.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE (P71) DRIVER MIRROR VERTICAL DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Driver Door Module C2 harness connector.
3. Check for continuity between ground and the (P71) Driver Mirror Vertical Driver circuit at the Driver Door Module C2 harness connector.
  Is there continuity between ground and the (P71) Driver Mirror Vertical Driver circuit?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the (Q21) Driver Window Driver Down circuit for a short to ground.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 4
CHECK THE (P71) DRIVER MIRROR VERTICAL DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT
1. Check for continuity between the (P71) Driver Mirror Vertical Driver circuit and all other circuits at the Passenger Door Module C2 connector.
  Is there continuity between the (P71) Driver Mirror Vertical Driver circuit and any other circuit?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the (P71) Driver Mirror Vertical Driver circuit for a short. If no problems are found, replace the Outside Rearview Mirror Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 5
CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
1. Disconnect all DDM harness connectors.
2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
  - Proper connector installation.
  - Damaged connector locks.
  - Corrosion.
  - Other signs of water intrusion.
  - Weather seal damage (if equipped).
  - Bent terminals.
  - Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
  - Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
  - Check for spread terminals and verify proper terminal tension.
  Repair any conditions that are found.
5. Connect all DDM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
6. Connect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
7. Connect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
9. Test drive or operate the vehicle in accordance with the when monitored and set conditions.
10. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Driver Door Module in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR (DDM/PDM), REMOVAL .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Outside Rearview Mirror Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS, REMOVAL .
  - Test complete. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
