Theory Of Operation

The Integrated Control Unit (ICU) consist of two components the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module and the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). The ABS Module receives key input signals from the Wheel Speed Sensors and the Stop Lamp Switch then sends electrical signals to the HCU to regulate hydraulic pressure during braking. The HCU contains a pump motor used for pressure and solenoid valves to regulate pressures for each brake circuit to prevent wheel lockup. When an ABS event braking is needed, the ABS Module uses its input signals to activate the motor and valves in the HCU to modulate brake pressure as needed.
