Repair Procedure For Under Hood Cowl And Upper Frame Rail Seam

This repair procedure is applicable when water is evident on the:

• Front floor (wet carpet)

Diagnosis:

• Using a bottle that can exert a steady stream of water, apply water to the cowl area (1) for several minutes.
• If water begins to puddle or wet the carpet on the passenger floor board proceed to the repair procedure.
• If water is not exhibited on the floor, continue further diagnosis, this repair does not apply.

Repair Procedure:

1. Move the engine harness and other under hood components to sufficiently access the repair area.
2. Remove the excess foam from the cowl seam area.
3. Clean the identified seam area with isopropyl alcohol.

4. Install sealing patch p/n 55397452AA.
   NOTE:

   Apply firm pressure to the sealing patch (10 to ensure it conforms to the overlapping sheet metal. Using a non-marring roller or trim stick will assist with this process.

5. Position the engine harness and other under hood components to back into place in the repair area.
