Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
The use of a approved special tool or Digital Multimeter such as a Fluke Meter that will not apply more than 20 milliamperes to a circuit are the only measurement tools to be used.
NOTE:Probing of the circuit cavities at the Occupant Restrain Controller (ORC) Module C1-A, C1-B, or C2-A body harness connectors is only to be done with a approved test lead from the 10159-6. Or a comparable test lead to prevent vehicle wiring harness connector damage during diagnostic procedures (special tool #10159, Test Leads, Dedicated)
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Radio (RRM) C1 harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure for voltage on the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit at the radio (RRM) connector PIN 3.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (R41) AUTOMATED COLLISION NOTIFICATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Radio harness connector and ORC harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit between the Radio harness connector and the ORC harness connector.
Is the resistance above 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open in the (R41) Automated Collision Notification circuit according to the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
WARNING:Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC Module according to the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT (ORC), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
