Standard Procedure - Sunshade Re-TENSIONING

NOTE:

Once the spring loaded pin is pressed to release the sunshade from the frame do not fully remove the sunshade until the spring tension on the shade is locked. Use care when removing the sunshade, by applying light pulling pressure to the steel locking pin while rotating the sunshade barrel forward. The plastic end feature of the barrel will rotate from the 12 o'clock position to the 3 o'clock position if done correctly allowing the lock pin to extend out of the barrel locking the spring tension of the sunshade. If the sunshade spring lock is released before it engages in the internal slot, the sunshade has to be reset.

  1. Install the sunshade pin into vise and secure.
  2. Rotate sunshade clockwise 20 times.
  3. Lock sunshade pin by pulling gently and twisting the sunshade until locked. If the sunshade is not locked, it will unravel and you will have to repeat step 2.
    NOTE:

While installing the sunshade into the sunroof assembly, install pin side first, then unlock the sunshade and make sure to hang on to it so it doesn't lose tension and install the other side (white plastic tip). Tension should be present when the sunshade shade beam is installed in the sunshade cable plates. Also ensure pilot clips are attached before attaching the sunshade beam to the sunshade cable plates.
