Diagnostic Test

PROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
NOTE:
Check the engine for air/vacuum leaks and diagnose any Fuel System Lean/Rich as well as MAP Sensor DTCs before continuing.
- Verify the PCM is at the latest calibration (flash level).NOTE:
An intermittent loss of power to the PCM without performing an ETC Relearn procedure may cause this DTC to set.
- Program the PCM in accordance with the Service Information. and follow the PCM/ECM PROGRAMMING procedure. Refer to PCM/ECM REPROGRAMMING - GAS . .
- Start the engine.
- Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Operate the accelerator pedal. (do not exceed 3500 rpm).
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.NOTE:
Diagnose any other DTCs that may have set with the P061A.
Does this DTC reset by itself?
Yes
- Replace and reprogram the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST . .
No
- Test Complete.
