Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    NOTE:

    Be sure the thumbwheel on the Dimmer Module is turned fully on during this test.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition on to off three times.
    4. Open the passenger door.
    5. Wait 30 seconds.
    6. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display: B1751-11-COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP SHORTED 
    1. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off.
    3. Remove the inner door panel trim in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL .
    4. Ensure the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp connector is disconnected.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Wait one minute.
    7. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display: B1751-11-COURTESY LAMP CONTROL - CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND as Active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Replace the Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. (M44) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Passenger Door Module C5 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between Ground and the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short to ground in the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. (M44) PASSENGER DOOR COURTESY LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO THE (M36) PASSENGER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT

    1. Measure the resistance between the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit in the PDM C5 connector.

      Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short between the (M44) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit and the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No
