Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: U0161-00-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH COMPASS MODULE?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (F924) FUSED RUN RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Compass Module harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F924) Fused Run Relay Output circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open or short to ground in the (F924) Fused Run Relay Output circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (Z926) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z926) Ground circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open in the (Z926) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (D402) BCM LIN 2 BUS CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (D402) BCM LIN 2 BUS circuit.
Is the voltage above 5.0 volts?
Yes
- Replace the Compass Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, COMPASS, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Repair the open in the (D402) BCM LIN 2 Bus circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
