Tank, Fuel: Installation: Fwd

- Install fuel tank shield (1) to fuel tank (2).
- Install fuel pump module (1) to fuel tank and connect fuel line (2). Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, INSTALLATION

WARNING:
Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or the fuel tank to fall from the jack.
- Position fuel tank onto a transmission jack or equivalent and raise the fuel tank into vehicle position.
- Connect electrical connector (1) to fuel pump module (2).
1 - Fuel Tank 2 - Strap Bolt 3 - Fuel Tank Strap - Install fuel tank straps (3) and bolts (2). Tighten to 48 N.m (35 ft. lbs.).
- Install fuel fill tube vent line to fuel tank quick connect fitting (3). Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Install purge line quick connect fitting (2) to fuel tank connection. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Install fuel filler tube to fuel tank. Tighten hose clamp (1) to 3 N.m (27 in. lbs.).
- Connect the purge line quick connect fitting (1) to the body mounted fuel line bundle. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Connect the fuel pump module quick connect fitting (2) to the body mounted fuel line bundle. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Install splash shield (2) with one bolt (1) and two nuts (3).
- Install exhaust muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, INSTALLATION .
- Connect negative battery cable, tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).
- Fill fuel tank. Use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.
