A common fuel rail (1) (also known as a manifold) is secured by two screws to the camshaft housing on the intake side of the cylinder head. The fuel rail is a metal casting with six machined ports. A supply port connects the fuel rail to the high pressure fuel circuit through a single tube and fitting (4) from the outlet side of the fuel injection pump. An outlet port connects to each of the fuel injectors through a high pressure fuel tube and fitting (2). The fuel rail also has a threaded port on one end into which the fuel pressure sensor (3) is installed. The fuel rail cannot be adjusted or repaired. If damaged or ineffective, it must be replaced.
