Diagnostic Test

- VERIFY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IS ACTIVE NOTE:
Make sure the IOD fuse is installed and battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts before proceeding.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool in, read the active ORC DTCs.
Does the scan tool display active U0001-CAN C BUS DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the Stored Lost Communication DTCs diagnostic procedure. Refer to STORED LOST COMMUNICATION DTCS .
- VERIFY OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect the ORC harness connectors.WARNING:
Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- With the scan tool, record and erase TIPM DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition from on to off three times.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the active DTCs in all modules.
Is the U0001-CAN C BUS DTC active in other modules?
Yes
- Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING and perform the U0001-CAN C BUS DTC.
No
- Inspect the wiring and connectors for damage or shorted circuits.
- If ok, replace the Occupant Restraint Controller in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the ORC harness connectors.
