Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
- Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.NOTE:
Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- (P187) LEFT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

- Disconnect the Heated Seat Module harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (P187) Left Front Seat Heater Control circuit.
Is there voltage above 0.5 volts?
Yes
- Repair the (P187) Left Front Seat Heater Control circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- (P187) LEFT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (P187) Left Front Seat Heater Control circuit at the Heated Seat Module harness connector to chassis ground.
Is the resistance between 2 and 5 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Heated Seat Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 4
- (Z912) SEAT HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z912) Seat Heater Ground circuit.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z912) Seat Heater ground circuit.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Check the heater wiring in the driver seat harness for an open, if OK replace the open seat heater element(s) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z912) Seat Heater Ground circuit.
