3.6L Engine - R-1234YF

WARNING:

NOTE:

The A/C liquid line and the A/C suction line with Internal Heat Exchanger (IHX) are serviced together as an assembly.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the engine upper intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the coolant recovery container (1). Refer to BOTTLE, COOLANT RECOVERY, REMOVAL .

  5. Disconnect the wire harness connector (4) from the A/C pressure transducer (3) and remove the transducer from the A/C liquid line, if required.
  6. Remove the nut (1) that secures the A/C liquid line (2) to the condenser tapping block.
  7. Disconnect the A/C liquid line (2) from the A/C condenser and remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.

  8. Remove the bolt (3) that secures the bracket (2) containing the A/C liquid line (1) to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) mounting bracket (4).

  9. Disengage the PCM wire harness retainer (3) from the A/C suction line stud.
  10. Remove the nut (2) that secures the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C compressor.
  11. Disconnect the A/C suction line (1) from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.

  12. Remove the nut (2) that secures the bracket (1) containing the A/C suction line and A/C liquid line (3) at the IHX to the stud on the cowl panel.
  13. Disengage the refrigerant line bracket (1) from the stud.

  14. Remove the nut (1) that secures the A/C liquid line and A/C suction line (2) to the A/C expansion valve (3).
  15. Disconnect the A/C liquid and suction lines (2) from the A/C expansion valve (3) and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  16. Remove the A/C liquid and suction line assembly with IHX from the engine compartment.
  17. Install plugs in, or tape over, the open refrigerant line fittings and the compressor, condenser and expansion valve ports.
