2.8L Engine

NOTE:

The A/C suction line and the A/C liquid line are serviced together as an assembly.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine trim cover.
  3. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Disconnect the charge air cooler outlet hose from the throttle body and position the hose out of the way.
  5. Remove the coolant recovery container. Refer to BOTTLE, COOLANT RECOVERY, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the nut (2) that secures the A/C liquid line (1) to the tapping block of the A/C condenser (3) located in the left front of the engine compartment.
  7. Disconnect the A/C liquid line from the A/C condenser and remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.

  8. Remove the nut (1) that secure the A/C suction line (2) to the A/C compressor (3).
  9. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.

  10. Remove the nut (3) that secures the bracket (2) containing the A/C suction line (1) and A/C liquid line (5) to stud on the cowl panel (4).
  11. Carefully disengage the refrigerant line bracket from the stud.

  12. Remove the intake manifold. .
  13. Remove the nut (2) that secures the A/C liquid line (3) and A/C suction line (5) to the A/C expansion valve (1).
  14. Disconnect the A/C liquid and suction lines from the A/C expansion valve and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  15. Remove the A/C suction and liquid line assembly (4) from the engine compartment.
  16. Install plugs in, or tape over, the opened refrigerant line fittings and the compressor, condenser and expansion valve ports.
