Diagnosis And Testing - Power Lock Switch

- Remove the power lock switch from the door inside trim panel. Refer to SWITCH, LOCK, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the door wire harness connector from the back of the lock switch.
- Using an ohmmeter, test the resistance between the terminals of the switch as shown in the Power Lock Switch Tests chart

POWER LOCK SWITCH TESTS SWITCH POSITION (PINS) *RESISTANCE (OHMS) NEUTRAL (2 and 3) 50 Kilohms LOCK (2 and 3) 1 Kilohm UNLOCK (2 and 3) 249 Ohms SWITCH ILLUMINATION (1 and 3) LEDs - SET MULTIMETER TO DIODE MODE - CONNECT PIN 1 TO PLUS (+), CONNECT PIN 3 TO MINUS (-) - LED SHOULD BARELY GLOW *All resistance values are plus or minus 5%. - If the switch fails any of the tests, replace the ineffective power lock switch as required.
