Seal, Axle Drive Shaft: Installation: Installation

  1. Remove any sealer remaining from original seals.

  2. Identify if the replacement seal is the new style (1) or the old style seal (2).

  3. If installing new style seal (3), orient the (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) (1) as shown in illustrations o that the large flat surface is against the seal.

  4. If installing the old style seal (2), orient the (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) (1) as shown in illustration seal fits over the small stepped surface.

  5. Use (special tool #6797, Turnbuckle) (1) to push against (special tool #8110, Installer, Seal) (2), carefully press the seals into the axle housing.
  6. Install differential into housing. Refer to CASE ASSEMBLY, DIFFERENTIAL, TRU-LOK, INSTALLATION .
  7. Install axles. Refer to SHAFT, AXLE, INSTALLATION .
  8. Install wheel speed sensor. Refer to SENSOR, WHEEL SPEED, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
  9. Install brake components.
