Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    NOTE:

    Be sure the thumbwheel on the Panel Dimmer Switch (also known as Dimmer Module) are turned fully on until instructed to turn them off.

    1. Cycle the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition on to off three times.
    4. Turn the park lamps on.
    5. Wait 30 seconds then cycle the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as ACTIVE?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. (M35) PASSENGER DOOR AMBIENT LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

    1. Cycle the ignition off.
    2. Remove the inner door panel trim in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL .
    3. Leave the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp connector connected.
    4. Disconnect the Passenger Door Module C5 harness connector.
    5. Cycle the ignition on.
    6. Measure the voltage between ground and the (M35) Passenger Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit in the Passenger Door Module C5 harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (M35) Passenger Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. (M35) PASSENGER DOOR AMBIENT LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN

    1. Cycle the ignition off.
    2. Be sure the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp connector is still connected.
    3. Cycle the ignition on.
    4. Connect a fused jumper wire to the (M35) Passenger Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.
    5. Connect a jumper wire to the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit in the PDM C5 harness connector.

      Does the Passenger Door Ambient Lamp illuminate brightly?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. (M35) PASSENGER DOOR AMBIENT LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN

    1. Disconnect the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (M35) Passenger Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit between the PDM C5 harness connector and the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Repair the open in the (M35) Passenger Door Courtesy Lamp Driver circuit.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  5. (M36) PASSENGER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN

    1. Measure the resistance of the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit between the PDM C5 harness connector and the Passenger Door Map Pocket/Courtesy Lamp harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Passenger Door Ambient Lamp.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Repair the open in the (M36) Passenger Door Lighting Return circuit.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
