Lamp, Glove Box: Removal: Lamp/Switch

To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Refer to WARNING . Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Open the glove box door.
- Reach through and behind the upper outboard corner of instrument panel glove box opening to access and depress the retaining latch on either side of the glove box lamp and switch unit (1).
- While holding the retaining latch depressed, push the glove box lamp and switch unit out through the mounting hole in the face of the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector from the glove box lamp and switch.
- Remove the lamp and switch unit from the instrument panel.
