Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Be sure the thumbwheel on the Panel Dimmer Switch (also known as Dimmer Module) is turned fully on during this test.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- Turn the ignition on to off three times and leave in the On position.
- Turn the park lamps on.
- Wait one minute.
- With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- DRIVER DOOR MAP POCKET LAMP SHORTED
- With the scan tool, erase the DTCS.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp connector.
- Be sure the park lamps are still on.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Wait one minute.
- With the scan tool, read the active DTCS.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Driver Door Map Pocket Lamp Assembly.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- (M33) DRIVER DOOR AMBIENT LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Driver Door Module C5 harness connector.
- Check for continuity between Ground and the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit at the DDM C5 harness connector.
Is there continuity between Ground and the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- (M33) DRIVER DOOR AMBIENT LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (M34) DRIVER DOOR LIGHTING RETURN CIRCUIT
- Check for continuity between the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit and the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit at the DDM C5 harness connector.
Is there continuity between the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit and the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit for a short to the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Driver Door Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, DOOR, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check for continuity between the (M33) Driver Door Ambient Lamp Driver circuit and the (M34) Driver Door Lighting Return circuit at the DDM C5 harness connector.
