Diagnostic Test

DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC
NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read all active ORC DTCs.
  Is the DTC active or stored?
  
  ORC - ACTIVE DTC
  - Go To 2
  ORC - STORED DTC
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST
CHECK FOR OPEN SQUIB CIRCUITS IN RIGHT SEAT AIRBAG

WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the C315 in-line harness connector.
  NOTE:
  Check the connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
2. Connect the (special tool #8443A, SRS Load Tool)to the C315 in-line harness connector.
3. If the vehicle is equipped with the standard key ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
4. If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
5. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display: B1C2D-RIGHT SIDE SEAT THORAX SQUIB 1 OPEN?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 3
  No
  - Go To 4
CHECK (R8) RIGHT SEAT THORAX SQUIB 1 LINE 1 CIRCUIT AND (R6) RIGHT SEAT THORAX SQUIB 1 LINE 2 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the (special tool #8443A, SRS Load Tool) from the C315 in-line harness connector.
2. Disconnect the ORC harness connectors.
  NOTE:
  Check the connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
3. Connect the (special tool #8443-28, SRS Load Tool Adapter)to the ORC harness connectors.
4. Measure the resistance of the (R8) Right Seat Thorax Squib 1 Line 1 circuit between the Right Seat Airbag in-line harness connector C315 cavity 4 and the (special tool #8443-28, SRS Load Tool Adapter) cavity 54.
5. Measure the resistance of the (R6) Right Seat Thorax Squib 1 Line 2 circuit between the Right Seat Airbag in-line harness connector C315 cavity 3 and the (special tool #8443-28, SRS Load Tool Adapter) cavity 55.
  Is the resistance below 1.0 Ohm on both circuits?
  
  Yes
  
  WARNING:
  If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the ORC in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Repair or replace the (R8) Right Seat Thorax Squib 1 Line 1 circuit or (R6) Right Seat Thorax Squib 1 Line 2 circuit for an open in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK FOR OPEN SQUIB CIRCUITS IN RIGHT SEAT AIRBAG

WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the (special tool #8443-28, SRS Load Tool Adapter) from the C315 in-line harness connector.
2. Reconnect the C315 in-line harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Right Seat Airbag harness connector.
  WARNING:
  Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  
  NOTE:
  Check the connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
4. Connect the (special tool #8443-28, SRS Load Tool Adapter) and the (special tool #8443-1, Jumpers, 2 Pin) to the Right Seat Airbag harness connector.
5. If the vehicle is equipped with the standard key ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
6. If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
7. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display: B1C2D-RIGHT SIDE SEAT THORAX SQUIB 1 OPEN?
  
  Yes
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the Seat Airbag Jumper Wire Harness in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the Right Seat Airbag in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to AIR BAG, SEAT, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
