Diagnostic Test

- CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Satellite Antenna yellow connector at the TGW.
- Inspect the Satellite Antenna connection.
Is the Antenna connection clean and secure?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Repair the Antenna connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE TGW
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) to the antenna connection on the back of the TGW.
- Place the magnetic antenna on the roof of the vehicle.
- Drive the vehicle outside to a clear un-obstructed overhead view.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the TGW on and set it to Satellite band.
- Tune into several Satellite stations.
Is the Satellite reception still poor or not available?
Yes
- Replace the TGW in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, TELEMATICS GATEWAY, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- TEST THE ANTENNA BASE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the headliner rear center header trim panel.NOTE:
Be extremely careful not to pull too hard on the headliner which could cause it to be damaged.
- Disconnect the yellow Antenna cable connector (2) at the base.
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) to the yellow Antenna cable connector at the antenna base.
- Place the magnetic antenna on the roof of the vehicle.
- Drive the vehicle outside to a clear un-obstructed overhead view.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the TGW on and set it to Satellite band.
- Tune into several Satellite stations.
Is the Satellite reception still poor or not available?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Satellite Antenna base in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to ANTENNA, SATELLITE, AUDIO, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the (special tool #9977-6-SAT, Antenna) from the Antenna cable.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) (1) to the Antenna cable (2) at the antenna base.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) (1) to the Antenna cable (2) at the back of the TGW.
- Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.
Is the resistance above 52.5 or below 47.5 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- The source of the poor reception is not caused by the TGW, Antenna cable or the Antenna base.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE FROM THE TGW TO INLINE CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) from the Antenna cable at the antenna base.
- Remove the Right cowl trim panel to access the Satellite antenna inline connector and disconnect it.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) (2) to the side of the Antenna cable (2) that leads to the TGW.
- Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.
Is the resistance above 52.5 or below 47.5 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the section of antenna cable from the TGW to inline connector.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 6
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE FROM THE INLINE CONNECTOR TO THE ANTENNA BASE
- Disconnect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) from the rear of the TGW.
- Disconnect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) (1) from the side of the Antenna cable (2) that leads to the TGW.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-1, Adapter) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-3, Adapter) (1) to the Antenna cable (2) at the antenna base.
- Connect the appropriate (special tool #9977-6-4, Jumper) (1) or (special tool #9977-6-2, Jumper) (1) to the side of the Antenna cable (2) that leads to the Antenna base.
- Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.
Is the resistance above 52.5 or below 47.5 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the section of antenna cable from the inline connector to the antenna base.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- The source of the poor reception is not caused by the TGW, Antenna cable or the Antenna base.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
