Diagnosis And Testing - Remote Compass Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Dodge Journey and 2015 Dodge Journey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:

Do not place any external magnets, such as magnetic roof mount antennas, in the vicinity of the Remote Compass Module (RCM) located under the left rear section of the roof panel. Do not place any electronic devices (cell phones, laptop computers, PDAs, portable DVD players, etc), on or near this section of the exterior roof panel as the RCM performance may be effected. Do not use magnetic tools when servicing the RCM.

The Remote Compass Module (RCM) data is transferred on the Local Interface Network (LIN) and the Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus circuit, through the Body Control Module (BCM). The RCM and Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) will not function properly if the bus messages are not properly received. If no EVIC data is displayed, check the LIN and CAN Data Bus circuit communications, the RCM, the Instrument Cluster functions BCM. Any diagnosis of the RCM and EVIC display should begin with the use of a scan tool and the appropriate diagnostic service information.

For complete circuit diagrams, refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article  . The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.
