NOTE:

The hood ajar switch striker cap is used only on vehicles manufactured for sale in certain export markets and equipped with the Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) system. It is not required for domestic vehicles equipped with the remote start version of the hood ajar switch.

  1. Unlatch and open the hood (1).
  2. Use a drill and the appropriate drill bit to carefully remove the blind rivet (2) that secures the hood ajar switch striker cap (3) to the inner hood panel reinforcement.
  3. Pry the striker cap away from the inner hood panel reinforcement far enough to disengage the two integral plastic retainers from the locator holes in the reinforcement.
  4. Remove the striker cap from the inner hood panel reinforcement.
