Section 113 (Instrument Cluster (Service Information)): Description: Description: Notes
The instrument cluster (IC) (1) for this vehicle is located directly in front of the driver, above the steering column opening. The mounts and the electrical connections, are concealed within the instrument panel behind various trim panels and the cluster itself. The IC contains various indicators, analog gauges, a Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display unit and an integrated circuit board. The TFT displays odometer information, automatic transmission gear selector position (PRNDL) and several indicators, some of which are market, model or equipment dependent.
The IC also contains the standard equipment Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). The EVIC provides the outside ambient temperature, compass headings, average fuel economy, elapsed time, numerous textual warning messages, reminder indicators and certain diagnostic information.
The IC can be serviced as several components. The gauges, indicators and electronic circuitry along with the housing itself are only serviced as an assembly and cannot be adjusted or repaired. If a gauge, Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit, the TFT, electronic circuit board, circuit board hardware, cluster overlay or cluster housing is damaged or ineffective, the entire unit must be replaced. The cluster lenses, hood and mask are available for separate service replacement.
