Diagnostic Test

- VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE:
This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read and record DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read and record Freeze Frame information.
- Perform the ECU initialization with drive test. Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Start the engine.
- With the scan tool, read and record DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- CHECK THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINTS CONTROLLER (ORC) INSTALLATION NOTE:
Occupant Restraints Controller (ORC) installation and mounting bolt torque is crucial for proper operation.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Check the Occupant Restraints Controller (ORC) for damaged, modified, and bent mounting brackets.
- Check the Occupant Restraints Controller (ORC) mounting bolts for a loose or over tightened condition.
- Verify the correct Occupant Restraints Controller (ORC) part number matches the vehicle.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE
- Replace the Occupant Restraints Controller (ORC) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .WARNING:
Make sure brake capability is available before road testing.
- Test drive the vehicle by turning the vehicle left or right in a curving manner at a velocity between 10 and 20 km/h (6 and 12 mph).
- With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the DTC remain active?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, REMOVAL .
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Test complete.
