Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Dodge Journey and 2015 Dodge Journey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When the Radio Frequency Hub (RF Hub) is awake, it sends a 12-volt reference signal on the T824 Transmission (TRS) Park Signal circuit. When that circuit is grounded by the transmission switch (auto trans. vehicles) or the BCM (manual trans. vehicles) the steering column lock module (ELV/ESCL) is allowed to lock the column when the conditions are right. The vehicle must be under 5 kph (3 mph) and the ignition in the lock position.
