Right Bank

  1. Clean the cylinder head, exhaust manifold and turbocharger sealing surfaces. Refer to ENGINE GASKET SURFACE PREPARATION  .
  2. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets (2 and 4) to turbocharger (1) and the cylinder head (3).
  3. Install the exhaust manifold (5) and the retaining nuts (6) finger tight.

  4. Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration tighten nuts to:
    • Tighten nuts to 15 N.m (133 in. lbs.).
    • Tighten nuts to 40 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).
  5. Install the exhaust pressure sensor. Refer to SENSOR, EXHAUST PRESSURE, INSTALLATION .

  6. Install the right exhaust manifold heat shield (2). Tighten bolts (1) to 15 N.m (133 in. lbs.).
  7. Using a new O-ring seal, install the oil dipstick tube. Tighten upper nut to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.).

  8. Install the EGR and cooler assembly bracket (2). Tighten bolts to 45 N.m (33 ft. lbs.).

  9. Install bolt (1) at the rear EGR cooler bypass valve support bracket (2) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

  10. Connect the EGR cooler supply hose (1).

  11. Using a new O-ring seal and gasket install the EGR cooler coolant tube (2). Tighten bolts (1 and 3) to 18 N.m (159 in. lbs.).

  12. Using a new gasket, install the turbocharger-to-EGR cooler tube (2). Tighten bolts (1) to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  13. Install the EGR tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), INSTALLATION .

  14. Disconnect the EGR cooler vacuum bypass hose (1).

  15. Connect the EGR temperature wire harness connector.

  16. Connect the EGR valve wire harness connector (2).

  17. Connect the exhaust gas temperature sensor wire harness connector.
  18. Connect the oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).

  19. Install the HVAC air inlet housing (1) and securely tighten nuts.

  20. Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, INSTALLATION .
  21. Install the coolant recovery bottle. Refer to BOTTLE, COOLANT RECOVERY, INSTALLATION .

  22. Install the cowl extension silencer. Refer to SILENCER, COWL EXTENSION, INSTALLATION .

  23. Connect the CAC hose (1) from the EGR air flow control valve.

  24. Install the charge air resonator (3).
  25. Install the charge air hose (2) to the turbo.
  26. Connect the CAC hose at resonator.
  27. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  28. Install the lower oil dipstick tube bolt. Tighten bolt to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.).
  29. Install the front suspension skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION, INSTALLATION .
  30. Install the front skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT, INSTALLATION .
  31. Lower the vehicle.
  32. Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  33. Install the engine cover (1).
  34. Connect the negative battery cable.
  35. Start the engine and check for leaks.
