Right Camshafts

- Clean all gasket and mating surfaces. Refer to ENGINE GASKET SURFACE PREPARATION .
- Lubricate camshafts with Mopar® Engine Oil Supplement, or equivalent. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
- Carefully install camshafts (1) onto cylinder head journals.
- Set the exhaust camshaft gear timing mark (1) at the four O'clock position and the intake camshaft timing gear mark (2) to the seven O'clock position.
- Verify the Identification No. (1) on front of cylinder head.
NOTE:
When installing the bearing caps, be sure to install the "A" on the intake side and the "S" on the exhaust side in the rightful order.
- The identification No. (2) on the camshaft bearing cap should match the cylinder head number.
- Install the camshaft bearing caps 1 through 12, in the rightful order and tighten each retaining bolt finger tight.
- Check the camshaft for proper timing. Refer to VALVE TIMING - STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Using the tightening sequence shown in illustration, tighten bolts to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.).
- Install the right timing chain sprocket. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Start engine, allow to warm, turn engine off and inspect for leaks.
