Diagnostic Test
- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE:
Check for any TSB(s) related to the condition. If a TSB applies, perform the procedure outlined in the TSB before continuing.
- Turn the ignition on.NOTE:
Make sure the battery voltage is between 10.0 and 16.0 volts.
- With the scan tool, read the module status.NOTE:
Check the BCM for any active CAN DTCs and perform the appropriate diagnostics before proceeding. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
Does the scan tool indicate that the module is active on the bus?
Yes
- Perform the Stored Lost Communication DTCs diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
No
- Go To 2
- Turn the ignition on.
- CHECK THE (A206) AND (A918) FUSED B(+) CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD) Module C3 harness connector.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A206) and (A918) Fused B(+) circuits.
Does the test light illuminate brightly for each circuit?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the open or short in the (A206) or (A918) Fused B(+) circuit.
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (F946) FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (RUN-START) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT NOTE:
Install a substitute relay
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (F946) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run-Start) circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open or short in the (F946) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run-Start) circuit.
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (Z917) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z917) Ground circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the open in the (Z917) Ground circuit.
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z917) Ground circuit.
- CHECK THE (D431) CAN C BUS (+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Star CAN C IP C3 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (D431) CAN C Bus (+) circuit between the Star CAN C IP C3 harness connector and the ELSD Module C3 harness connector.
Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the (D431) CAN C Bus (+) circuit for an open.
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (D432) CAN C BUS (-) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (D432) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the Star CAN C IP C3 harness connector and the ELSD Module C3 harness connector.
Is resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Electronic Limited Slip Differential Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Repair the (D432) CAN C Bus (-) circuit for an open.
- Perform the ELSD VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (D432) CAN C Bus (-) circuit between the Star CAN C IP C3 harness connector and the ELSD Module C3 harness connector.
