Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE CABIN HEATER 1 RELAY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the Cabin Heater 1 Relay and substitute it with a known good relay.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Cabin Heater 1 Relay in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (K360) PTC 1 RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the Cabin Heater 1 Relay.
- Disconnect the BCM D harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (K360) PTC 1 Relay Control circuit.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the short to ground in the (K360) PTC 1 Relay Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (K360) PTC 1 RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (K360) PTC 1 Relay Control circuit between the Cabin Heater 1 Relay harness connector and the BCM D harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the open in the (K360) PTC 1 Relay Control circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (K360) PTC 1 Relay Control circuit between the Cabin Heater 1 Relay harness connector and the BCM D harness connector.
- INSPECT RELATED WIRING AND CHECK FOR TSB'S
- Turn the ignition off.
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Cabin Heater 1 Relay and the BCM.
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Replace the BCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
