Diagnostic Test

VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase Instrument Cluster (IPC) DTCs.
3. Cycle the ignition from off to on.
4. With the scan tool, read IPC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Go To 5
CHECK THE (D509) LIN BUS FOR AN OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
3. Disconnect the Airbag Disable Lamp harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance of the (D509) LIN Bus circuit between the Instrument Cluster harness connector and the Airbag Disable Lamp harness connector.
  Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 3
  No
  - Repair the (D509) LIN Bus circuit for an open or high resistance.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
CHECK THE (D509) LIN BUS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Measure the resistance between ground and the (D509) LIN Bus circuit.
  Is the resistance above 100K Ohms?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 4
  No
  - Repair the (D509) LIN Bus circuit for a short to ground.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
CHECK THE AIRBAG DISABLE LAMP
1. Replace the Airbag Disable Lamp module in accordance with the Service Information.
2. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
  
  Yes
  - Using the schematics as a guide, check the IPC module pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  No
  - Test Complete.
CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
2. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this module. Wiggle the wiring and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits.
3. Check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
4. Check Service Bulletins for any possible causes that may apply.
  Were there any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair as necessary.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  No
  - Test complete.
