Steering Gear - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. Install the steering gear on the frame rail and tighten the bolts (1) to 118 Nm (87 ft. lbs.)





2. Align and install the pitman arm (2) and tighten the nut (3) to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.).





3. NOTE: It may be necessary to pry the axle assembly over to install the track bar (1) at the frame rail.
Install the track bar at the frame rail bracket.
4. Install the nut and bolt (2) at the frame rail bracket and tighten to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.





6. Align the column coupler shaft (1) to the steering gear (2). Install a new coupler pinch bolt and tighten to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).





7. Install the power steering hoses/tubes (1, 2) to the steering gear (3) and tighten to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
8. Reinstall the coolant bottle back into position.
9. Fill the power steering system to the proper level, Power Steering System Bleeding.
10. Check the toe setting, Service and Repair.
