Camshaft - Removal

REMOVAL




HYDRAULIC LIFTERS





1. Remove the radiator and cooling fans from the vehicle.
2. Remove the cylinder heads Cylinder Head - Removal.
3. Remove the timing chain and camshaft sprocket . Timing Chain & Sprockets - Removal
4. Remove the yoke retainer (1).
5. Remove the hydraulic lifters (4) Hydraulic Lifters - Removal. Identify each tappet for reinstallation in original location.










6. Remove camshaft thrust plate (2).

NOTE: Slowly remove the camshaft from the engine taking precautions not to damage the camshaft bearings.

7. Install a long bolt into front of camshaft to facilitate removal of the camshaft.
8. Carefully remove the camshaft,

NOTE: The camshaft bearings are serviced with the engine block.
