Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) NO RESPONSE - PCI BUS  

    Turn the ignition on.

    NOTE: When the Instrument Cluster detects no PCI Bus, the VF will display "no bus".

    With the scan tool, attempt to communicate with other modules on the PCI Bus.

    Was the scan tool able to communicate with other modules? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. Refer to appropriate COMMUNICATION DTC in appropriate ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS article.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. 2) NO RESPONSE - PCI BUS - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER 

    Turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, select System Monitors, then J1850 Module Scan.

    Does the scan tool display MIC PRESENT on the BUS? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  3).

    No 

    1. Refer to symptom *NO RESPONSE FROM CLUSTER
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. 3) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER 

    With the scan tool, erase DTCs.

    Cycle the ignition and wait approximately 1 minute.

    With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Did this DTC reset? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service Information.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. The condition is not present at this time. Monitor scan tool parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
