Audio System: Radio: Removal

WARNING: On vehicles equipped with airbags, (refer to RESTRAINTS before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the instrument panel top cover from the instrument panel. (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL TOP COVER - REMOVAL) .
Remove the center bezel (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BEZEL - REMOVAL) .
Remove the screws that secure the radio to the instrument panel.
If the vehicle is equipped with the CD radio, go to step 6. If the vehicle is not equipped with the CD radio receiver, go to step 8.
Remove the glove box from the instrument panel. (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/GLOVE BOX - REMOVAL) .
Reach through the instrument panel glove box opening to access and remove the nut that secures the CD radio bracket and the ground strap to the back of the radio.
Pull the radio out from the instrument panel far enough to access the wire harness connectors and the antenna coaxial cable connector.
Unplug the wire harness connectors from the rear of the radio.
CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio.

Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the locking antenna connector away from the radio. See Fig 1.

Remove the radio from the instrument panel.
