Audio System & Video System: Radio: Removal
WARNING:
ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, (REFER TO RESTRAINTS
) BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Remove the instrument panel top cover from the instrument panel. (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL TOP COVER - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the center bezel (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER BEZEL - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the screws that secure the radio to the instrument panel.
- If the vehicle is equipped with the CD radio, go to step 6. If the vehicle is not equipped with the CD radio receiver, go to step 8.
- Remove the glove box from the instrument panel. (Refer to BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/GLOVE BOX - REMOVAL) .
- Reach through the instrument panel glove box opening to access and remove the nut that secures the CD radio bracket and the ground strap to the back of the radio.
- Pull the radio out from the instrument panel far enough to access the wire harness connectors and the antenna coaxial cable connector.
- Unplug the wire harness connectors from the rear of the radio.CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio.
- Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the locking antenna connector away from the radio. See Fig 1.
