Oil Cooler: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Jeep Liberty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
A plate style external oil cooler is mounted to the side of the engine block, below the turbocharger. Engine coolant is used to cool the oil. The gasket should be replaced anytime you are servicing the oil cooler. When replacing the engine block, inspect the oil collar for damage or restrictions. If the oil cooler is not damaged or restricted, it can be reused. See Fig 1.
