Crankshaft Oil Seal - Rear: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Jeep Liberty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The rear crankshaft seal consists of two parts that reside in a third part, the rear support assembly. The rear seal is inserted into the rear cup. See Fig 1. These pieces should be assembled WITH OUT removing one from the other. The rear support assembly, once assembled, should not be separated as well, to reduced possibility of damage to the internal rear seal lip. See Fig 2.
