Crankshaft Main Bearings

NOTE:
Identify the correct crankshaft by noting the groove on the front of the 2.8L crankshaft.

- Identify the crankshaft support witness marks and install bearing halves in crankshaft supports. See Fig 1.
- Lubricate crankshaft and main bearings with clean engine oil.
1 - CRANKSHAFT SUPPORT BOLT HEAD 2 - CRANKSHAFT SUPPORT 3 - CRANKSHAFT 4 - OIL PASSAGE SHOULDER INSIDE SUPPORT 5 - ENGINE BLOCK STRUCTURAL SUPPORT 6 - CRANKSHAFT SUPPORT ALIGNMENT ACCESS/BALANCE SHAFT OIL PASSAGE NOTE: Crankshaft support witness marks must be facing toward the front of the engine before installing the crankshaft. The crankshaft supports have oil passages that must be aligned properly. The crankshaft support bolt heads should be facing the balance shaft. See Fig 2. - Install crankshaft supports on crankshaft. See Fig 3. Torque bolts to 44.1 N.m.
