Camshaft Oil Seal(S): Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove cooling fan and fan drive viscous clutch assembly. Refer to RADIATOR - FAN - VISCOUS .
- Remove accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - REMOVAL) .
- Remove fan support (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - REMOVAL) .
- Remove vibration damper.
- Remove outer timing belt cover (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN COVER(S) - REMOVAL) .CAUTION: Before removing the timing belt the engine must rotated to 90° ATDC, or the 3 O'clock position. Failure to do so could result in valve and/or piston damage during reassembly. (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Remove timing belt (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - REMOVAL) .
- Using VM.1085, remove both camshaft gears. See Fig 1.
- Remove both camshaft oil seals using special tool VM.1058.
