Diagnostic Procedure

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE - *CHIME SOUNDS WITH DRIVER DOOR OPEN KEY REMOVED

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY

NOTE: Ensure the exterior lamps turn on and off properly and are off before continuing this test.
With the DRB III select: Body, Body Computer, Input Output.Remove the key from the ignition switch.Read the Key-In Ignition status.Does the DRB III show Key-In Ign OPEN?Yes --> Refer to the service information for other possible causes.Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .No --> Go To 2

2 Disconnect the Ignition Switch connector.
Did the chime turn off?
Yes --> Check the Ignition Lock Cylinder for damage. If OK replace the Ignition Switch.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
No --> Go To 3
All
3 Turn ignition off.
Disconnect the Ignition Switch connector.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C1 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Key-in Ignition Switch Sense circuit to ground at the
Ignition Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 100.0 ohms?
Yes --> Repair the Key-In Ignition Switch Sense wire for a short to ground.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
No --> Go To 4
All
4 If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
Replace and program the Body Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1  .
