Diagnostic Procedure

AIRBAG INDICATOR ON WITHOUT ACTIVE TROUBLE CODES - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.
Make sure that all Airbag and Instrument Cluster DTCs have been repaired before performing this procedure.
With the DRBIII® select MONITOR DISPLAY, WARNING LAMP STATUS and read the PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG, MONITOR DISPLAY, WARNING LAMP STATES.
With no active DTCs, Does the LAMP REQ by ACM monitor show ON?
  1. Yes : Go To 2
  2. No : Repair or replace the Instrument Cluster as necessary.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

    NOTE: When reconnecting Airbag system components, the ignition must be turned off and the battery must be disconnected.

WARNING: TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH, TURN THE IGNITION OFF, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND WAIT TWO MINUTES BEFORE PROCEEDING.
WARNING: IF THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE IS DROPPED AT ANY TIME, IT MUST BE REPLACED. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
  1. Repair:Replace the Airbag Control Module in accordance with Service Instructions.

    Perform AIRBAG VERIFICATION TEST .
