Removal & Installation

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. ACM is secured by retaining screws to a bracket welded onto floor panel transmission tunnel, under rear of center console.
- Set parking brake. Place transmission shift lever and transfer case lever in rearward position. Remove mat from front bin and remove retaining screws attaching front of console to floor. See Fig 1 . Remove retaining screws attaching rear bin to console and remove rear bin. Pull rear cup holder outward to access retaining screws. Remove retaining screws attaching rear of console to floor. Lift console upward and rearward. Remove console from vehicle.
- Remove center console bracket mounting nuts and bracket from floor panel transmission tunnel in front of ACM. See Fig 2 . Disconnect ACM electrical connector overlay from ACM electrical connectors. Slide Red Connector Position Assurance (CPA) lock on top of ACM connector toward front of vehicle. See Fig 3 . Depress connector latch tab and pull connector straight away from ACM connector receptacle. Remove 4 retaining screws securing ACM to bracket and remove ACM.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure arrow on ACM housing is pointed toward front of vehicle. Ensure connector latch and Red CPA lock are fully engaged. Tighten ACM retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
