Turn Signal Indicator Test
NOTE:
This test assumes that exterior lighting is functioning properly. If exterior lighting is not functioning properly, correct fault(s) before continuing with this test. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS
in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. For additional indicator diagnosis, see SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION
table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Reconnect battery cable.
- Turn hazard switch on. For inoperative right turn signal indicator, using DVOM, check for battery voltage at instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 2 (Tan wire). See Figure . For inoperative left turn signal, using DVOM, check for battery voltage at instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 1 (Gray wire). Battery voltage should exist, and switch between battery voltage and zero volts. If voltage is as specified, replace instrument cluster. If voltage is not as specified, repair open in Tan or Gray wire between multifunction switch and instrument cluster. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
