Indicator Stays On When Full/Part-Time Mode Is Not Selected

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect transfer case switch connector. Switch is located at top of transfer case, between main body and front driveshaft. Using DVOM, check for continuity between ground and transfer case switch connector terminals (component side). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, replace transfer case switch.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, check continuity between ground and instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 16 (Black/Red wire). See Figure . If continuity is indicated, repair short to ground in Black/Red wire between instrument cluster and transfer case switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity is not indicated, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
