Indicator Inoperative When Full/Part-Time Mode Is Selected

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect transfer case switch connector. Switch is located at top of transfer case, between main body and front driveshaft. Using DVOM, check for continuity between ground and transfer case switch harness connector terminal "B" (Black wire). If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in Black wire between transfer case switch and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Reconnect battery cable. Turn ignition on. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and transfer case switch harness connector terminal "A" (Black/Red wire). If indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If indicator light illuminates, replace transfer case switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect jumper wire. Using DVOM, check for continuity between instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 16 (Black/Red wire) and transfer case switch connector terminal "A". See Figure . If continuity is not present, repair open in Black/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
