Chime Test

NOTE: For additional chime diagnosis, see appropriate procedure under CHIME under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - WRANGLER article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove steering column upper and lower covers. Disconnect ignition switch connector.
  2. Using DVOM, check continuity between ground and instrument panel connector C2 terminal No. 13 (Light Blue wire). See Figure . If continuity is not indicated, go to next step. If continuity is indicated, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire between instrument cluster and ignition switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Using DVOM, check continuity of Light Blue wire between instrument panel connector C2 terminal No. 13 and ignition switch connector terminal No. 5. If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair open in Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Disconnect seat belt switch connector located at base of driver's seat belt buckle. Using DVOM, check continuity between ground and instrument panel connector C2 terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Red wire). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step. If continuity is indicated, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire between instrument cluster and seat belt switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Using DVOM, check continuity of Light Green/Red wire between instrument panel connector C2 terminal No. 2 and seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1. If continuity is indicated, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS  . If continuity is not indicated, repair open in Light Green/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
