Removal & Installation

NOTE: Replace parking brake shoes when lining is worn to a thickness of .06" (1.6 mm) or less.
  1. Lock out park brake lever. See Figure. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Remove brake caliper and anchor as an assembly, and wire aside. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER & BRAKE PADS . Remove rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR .
  2. Remove clip and pin securing rear brake shoe to splash shield. Remove lower spring from rear shoe. Tilt rear shoe outward. Remove star adjuster wheel and return spring. Remove return spring from front shoe. Remove clip and pin securing front brake shoe. Remove front brake shoe. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all nuts/bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Adjust parking brake shoes. See REAR PARKING BRAKE SHOES (4-WHEEL DISC)  under ADJUSTMENTS.
