Removal & Installation

Remove floor console. See FLOOR CONSOLE . Lift up rear seat and carpet covering parking brake cables. Place a screwdriver through the front cable eyelet and pry back on front cable. See Figure.

NOTE: There should be slack in cable if lock out spring is engaged.

Have an assistant pry down lock out spring through hole in side of parking brake lever with a small screwdriver, then slowly release front cable. See Figure.
Disengage front cable end from equalizer. See Fig 1. Disengage front cable end from parking brake lever. Remove front carpet as needed. Remove front cable retainer nuts from floor pan. See Fig 2.
Compress cable retainers using a 13-mm wrench. See Figure. Remove cable from parking brake lever bracket and equalizer bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure. Check parking brake operation.
